Traditional clinical lab testing, with its need for complex machinery, specialized operation, and dedicated laboratory environments, presents clear challenges: it’s inconvenient, time-consuming, and costly. This complexity is traditionally justified by the need for precision to ensure test accuracy, a concept known as the “precision paradigm.”

At Essenlix, we have shifted away from this conventional approach by adopting and developing what we call the “intelligent fault-tolerant paradigm.” This new framework, along with other groundbreaking innovations, allows for clinical lab-quality results using simpler devices that remain reliable even under less-than-perfect conditions involving samples, devices, processes, and operations.

One major hurdle in traditional point-of-care (POC) testing is the requirement for multiple instruments and various sample holders for different tests. Our iMOST® technology overcomes this by utilizing a single, versatile platform. This unique sample holder and instrument can handle various sample types—including blood, saliva, urine, swab, sputum, breath, mucus, and tissue—and perform a wide range of assays, such as immunoassays, colorimetric tests, cytology, pathology, and nucleic acid tests, across diverse biomarkers like cells, proteins, nucleic acids, and small molecules.

iMOST® features several additional innovations designed to enhance user experience: the device requires only tiny sample volumes (5-10 µL), operates quickly (delivering results within minutes), and integrates seamlessly with mobile devices for real-time monitoring and calibration. It’s easy to use, reliable, requires low maintenance, and is cost-effective to operate. Furthermore, the intelligent fault-tolerant design enables the iMOST® readers to be compact and easily manufactured on a large scale at low cost.
